There has been a fort on this site since Roman times. At times allowed to become derelict, only to be renovated whenever danger threatened our southern shores, Newhaven Fort has now been restored as a tourist attraction by Sussex council.
The layout of the fort remains as it was during the threat of invasion by the Spanish, Napoleon, and Hitler with interactive displays depicting the history of the fort.
After our visit to the fort our next destination was the Paradise Gardens with displays of exotic plants which rounded off a wonderful day. Once again many thanks to Stan for organising the outing.
